Guide to Safety of Electrically Operated Sliding Gates For the safe use of the gates: - DO NOT allow children playing with the operation of the gates.

- Good maintenance is essential to safety. So ensure the complete installation is always in good working condition by following the contractor and manufacturer's advice. The Owner of an electrically operated sliding gate is advised that the design and construction of the gate should follow the technical guidelines issued by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. The summary of the guidelines are as follows: ? Maximum closing speed of the gate shall not exceed 0.2 metres/second. ? Control push buttons shall be of continuous pressure type and shall be located out of reach by children. ? An emergency stop push button shall be provided adjacent to the gate. ? Photoelectric sensors or contact switch or similar devices shall be provided to prevent the gate from closing whenever an obstacle is detected. ? Manual release device to release the gate from its locked position under power failure condition shall be provided. ? If remote control of the gate is provided, the radio equipment shall be governed by the Telecommunications Ordinance.
