The research themes include: advanced combustion and gasification leading to cleaner power generation coal-to-liquid transport fuels (petrol, diesel and higher fuel alcohols) non-conventional hydrocarbons, such as shale gas the whole spectrum of carbon capture technologies covering integrated multi-pollutant control enhanced oil/gas extraction technologies? green technologies and green energies In addition, energy-related environmental research will target strategically important regional and nationwide environmental problems and their solutions. The themes are relevant to those with a degree background in subjects such as;
Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Geology. The International Doctoral Innovation Centre (IDIC) based at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China is recruiting on to a unique
4 year PhD programme for Energy. Applicants must have an excellent first degree having achieved at least an upper second class in a relevant subject area and preferably a Masters Qualification or equivalent. They must also have achieved a minimum English language qualification IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent with no less than 6.0 in any element and can demonstrate an enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research. Our students will benefit from: A fully-funded four-year PhD programme that integrates a leading-edge research project with research training in interdisciplinary skills. Training to equip research engineers for high-level careers in the energy sector A stipend of ?800 per month whilst in the UK for the first year. ?

4 whilst at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and one return flight. Supervision from international leaders in the associated disciplines. The IDIC has funding for
24 students. Students will be based in the Efficient Fossil Energy Technologies C Engineering Doctorate Centre, Jubilee Campus, Nottingham in the UK during the first year then move to Ningbo Campus at the beginning of the second year and stay there for
