2017 RE: Welcome to the 2017-2018 Academic Year Dear Parents, Welcome to the 2017/18 school year! I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate our 2016/17 IB MYP & Diploma students on their recent results.

Congratulations to all of the class of '17 and thanks to their teachers and parents who supported them during the past two years. We wish our graduates well as they take on new challenges in the future. A special mention must go to Olivia Kim, who obtained the highest score, as a school, we are extremely proud of all our graduates. As well as the IB Diploma results, we have had outstanding success on the IB MYP. The year

10 students achieved a 100% pass rate, with UISZ being very strong in Languages and Mathematics. Across the other subjects, UISZ was above the world average, which highlights the outstanding education we provide. The MYP programme is excellent preparation for the challenges of the IB Diploma and with these results we are expecting great success for our future graduates. Our reputation as an educational institution of excellence offering all three International Baccalaureate programmes grows. Our focus on academics, student development and wellbeing make UISZ stand out as one of the best international schools in the region. This year, we are welcoming into our community, over twenty new students and their families, as well as our new staff and their families. UISZ is a strong community and so please make everyone feel welcome. You will have the opportunity to meet all our teachers, in person, at our upcoming Welcome Evening on Friday 25th August. We have welcomed into the Primary and Secondary Schools our young KG1, Year

1 and Year

7 students. Our school counsellor Mr. Gavin Fuller will be helping them settle into their school routines and daily life over the coming days and weeks. Letters have been sent to new parents outlining devices students from Year

5 to

12 are to bring and the expectations of correct usage. If you are unsure about this policy please email Mr. Robin France, our PYP coordinator on: [email protected] This year, students in K to10 are required to wear the new summer school uniform. Uniforms can be purchased through the Primary office and the Secondary School reception desk, as well as the online UISZ E-shop on the school website. Students can continue to wear the old uniform at the start of this year;

however, this will be phased out during Semester 1. I advise you to purchase the new school uniform as soon as possible.
