1 SCOPE.

This specificationcoversqualification tests for nylon fuel systemassemblies with quick connectorassem- bliesintendedfor usein conductingliquid fuelsor fuel vapor. Otherdocuments which describethe performance anddimen- sional requirements of the assembliesand the assembly components are specifications GM6264M, GM9060P, GM6268M,GM6269M,andCPCChart#10093203. 1.1 This specificationalso defmesthe performance require- mentsfor thoseassemblies containingdirect metal or nylon maletubingto nylon femaletubingconnections usedfor con- ducting liquid fuel or fuel vapor. The specification requirementscontainedtherein are to be usedfor both the Engineering SourceApprovalgeneration throughthetestingof the standardassemblysamples described in 4.1.1,andfor the testingandapprovalof productionfuel assemblies. 1.2 For thosefuel vapor assemblieswhich do not contain eitherquick connectors or directmetalor nylon maletubingto nylon female tubing connections,the only sectionsof this specificationto which theseassemblies mustbe testedare5.2, 5.8 and5.9, if applicable. 1.3 RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GMlOOOM).All materialssuppliedto this specificationmust complywith therequirements listedin GMlOOOM, "Restricted andReportable Chemicals."

3 FUEL SYSTEM ASSEMBLY CONSTRUCTION. 3.1 Thenylon line mustmeettheapplicable nylon line speci- ficationascalledout on the fuel systemassembly drawing. 3.2 The quick connectorassemblies usedin the fuel system assemblymustmeetthe applicablequick connectorspecifica- tion(s)ascalledout on thefuel systemassembly drawing.

4 TESTS. 4.1 FUEL SYSTEMASSEMBLYREQUIREDTESTS. Nylon fuel or fuel vaporsystemassemblies with quickconnec- tor assembliesand with male tubing-nylon female tubing connections shallbetestedfor conformance with thefollowing sections: section 5.1 Leak 5.2 IntemalCleanliness 5.3 Burst 5.4 Pressure Cycling, Leak,Burst 5.5 Fitting Pull-Off 5.6 Pressure, Temperature, VibrationCycling 5.7 Corrosion,LeakTest,Burst 5.8 SleeveDisplacement 5.9 Ovality (formedpartsonly) 4.1.1 EngineeringSourceApproval. Engineering source approvalsgenerated through testing to prove compliance this specificationare specificfor combinationsof the follow- ing factors: raw material source,raw materia1compound number,tubing extruder,tubing extrudermanufacturingpro- cessandsite,assembly manufacturing processandsite,size tubing, any specific manufacturingprocesses to preform tubing,andtype of tubinginterconnection. Thetypeof tubinginterconnection is dependent on thespecific dimensions of the tubing,andon the componentto which tubingis joined. Thecomponent is definedby thedimensions, material,design, source,andsourcemanufacturing siteof the component. Upon thesuccessful testingof onepartnumberto therequire- mentsof the specification,the EngineeringSourceApproval for this part numbercan be extendedto other part numbers with identicalmaterial,design,and manufacturing content, definedabove. Actual part number samplesmay be required by the GM Release Engineer to be tested for Engineering Source Approval to this specificationexceptfor test procedures 5.6 and 5.7, which requirethe testing of standardtest samples. Thesestandard testsamplesshallhavean exposednylon tube of lengthof 500f 10mm (exceptasnotedin Figures3 and and the tubing interconnections for the test samplesshall representative connectionsfor the part number(s)for which approvalis sought. Standardsamples,or othersamplesdeemedrepresentative productionfuel line assemblies may be testedfor Engineering SourceApproval to this specificationfor sectionsother than 5.6 and5.7, with GM Engineering Approval,for both formed and nonformedparts.In this casethe standardtest samples mustbe identicalto thosepartnumbersfor which theapproval is sought,with theexceptionof samplelength.
