A former Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1981, she was also the recipient of Order of Australia in 1980, Commendatore della Repubblica Italiana in 1990, and the Illustrious Ligurian Award by City of Genoa and the Region of Liguria in 2004. Less known is her four-decade long fascination with Chinese snuff bottles sparked by a gift. The tiny yet beautiful masterpiece captured Franca'
s imagination and she began buying pieces at auction in Australia as well as from esteemed dealers around the world. From her love for the bottles, great friendship formed. Franca is a life-long supporter of Li Kechang, a master of late inside-painted snuff bottles. A few bottles painted by Li in Franca'
