General Notes These operating instructions apply to ZRD / API valves whose design, production and testing are subject to the quality assurance system of DIN/ISO

These operating instructions are to assist the user during installation and maintenance of the above mentioned types. 3. Intended Use Non-return valves are valves whose sole function after their installation into a pipeline is to prevent the back flow of media within permitted pressure and temperature limits. The operating company is obliged to test the chemical stability according to the intended operation parameters prior to installation. The permissible operation parameters can be gathered from Annex II or from the data sheets of the mentioned types. 4. Safety Instructions 4.1 General Safety Instructions Valves are subject to the same safety instructions as the pipelines where they are installed. This means that all existing national and international regulations concerning the prevention of accidents and any internal regulations concerning work, operation and safety have to be obeyed. These operating instructions point out only those security instructions that additionally apply when using non-return valves. 4.2 Qualification of Personnel The valves may only be installed and maintained by qualified personnel. The operating company arranges the staff'

s competence, areas of responsibility and supervision. If the staff is lacking the necessary knowledge the operating company will have to provide training courses. This also ensures that the staff members completely understand the content of these operating instructions. Serious dangers may arise if the following notes and warnings are not adhered to and the warranty the valve manufacturer provides may become invalid.
